SECOND-STOREY ADDITION

For this growing family, we took unusable attic space and transformed it into a large primary bedroom, with an elegant ensuite and a private balcony for Mom and Dad. On the main floor we removed walls, added large picture windows, installed hardwood floors, built a custom white oak staircase, and added a dramatic black kitchen. Painted Hardy Board completes the addition's facade, giving it a fresh, contemporary appearance that the client absolutely loves.

MAIN FLOOR RENOVATION

Design and Renovation - Kis & Varone

A young family of four was ready to make everyday living more functional. With their vision and trust in us, we were able to make that happen. We helped them reimagine the main floor with an open-concept floor plan, a custom-built kitchen, a new stair railing, a study area, and millwork details throughout. The result of this collaborative custom design is a gorgeous living space tailored to the clients' needs and tastes.

“We are absolutely delighted with our new space and are settling in beautifully. Your hard work and exceptional craftsmanship have truly made a difference, and we are incredibly grateful.”

REDESIGN THREE BATHROOMS

Design and Renovation - Kis & Varone

We designed and renovated the main bathroom and powder room, and converted a third-floor closet into an office’s ensuite bathroom. Trusting our expertise, each bathroom was transformed from beige and dated spaces into jewel-like, dreamy getaways that are rich with colours and patterns, and reflect the client’s tastes.

“We couldn’t be happier with the transformation of our bathrooms. Kis & Varone approached the project with creativity, craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of design. While they shared our vision, we also trusted their creative instincts, and that trust paid off in the most beautiful way. The final result was nothing short of stunning.”

CUSTOM KITCHEN

Design and Renovation - Kis & Varone

After serious water damage, this kitchen needed to be brought down to the studs and completely updated. We reimagined usable pantry space and optimized storage to meet the demands of this highly active family of five. For a dramatic new appearance, we incorporated the client’s passion for the colour blue into the counters, flooring, lighting, and tiles.

“Silvie and Liz were professional, communicative, and deeply respectful of our home throughout the entire process. We trusted them implicitly. Their taste, style, and workmanship were impeccable. We now have a kitchen that is not only beautiful, but also highly functional and genuinely fun to be in. What an absolutely precious gift to have a woman’s touch guiding the communication, vision, planning, and execution."

Adam House

HOME RENOVATION

Architect - Areacode Architects

Renovation - Kis & Varone

Adam House, an organization that welcomes incoming refugees, was in need of a renovation. Along with extensive work needed to bring the building up to legal codes and standards, we installed an industrial kitchen with custom built-in benches and a walk-in pantry to accommodate multiple high-functioning tasks. The basement was converted into a bright and spacious gathering area, with an extra kitchen and board room for staff. With updated bathrooms, durable vinyl flooring, and new safety doors throughout, Adam House was able to safely reopen and welcome in new residents.

"Liz and Silvie were a joy to work with—hands-on, creative, and genuinely committed to their craft. Their daily on-site presence, personal investment, and ability to navigate the complexities of a challenging renovation (including fire ratings, site conditions, and technical challenges) made all the difference in bringing the project to life with care and precision.”

ADDITION & HOME RENOVATION

Design and Renovation - Kis & Varone

This dark, century-old home was in need of updating from the bare bones to the finishing details. We built a 3-story addition and removed some interior walls, and with the addition of expansive windows on each floor, the natural light now beautifully filters throughout the house. Each floor was reimagined—the 3rd floor became a private primary suite with an ensuite bath and a walk-out deck. The 2nd floor now has an open space for gathering, 2 spacious and bright bedrooms, and a new updated bathroom with laundry.  The main floor, still in progress, will incorporate a garden room with floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, and an updated kitchen.  The basement was underpinned and configured as an in-law apartment with a separate entrance, 8-foot ceilings, heated and polished concrete floors, full soundproofing, and a large bedroom window for maximum light. From the foundation to the finishing details, including upcycling the original beams and adding custom-designed millwork throughout, this home now flows with light, space, and style.

“We had a great time working with Kis & Varone.  They’re warm and friendly, they love their work, and take joy in their clients’ happiness. Their attention to detail truly converted our “haunted house” of a basement and completely transformed it into something we absolutely love.”

MILLWORK

Custom Millwork - Kis & Varone

After a burst pipe caused serious water damage to this Edwardian beauty, it was our job to repair and restore its charming details. We maintained the home's history when replacing all the trim and baseboards. New custom-designed cabinets for both the kitchen and sunroom were built and installed. As well, we incorporated the client's desire for a two-tone cork tiled floor in the kitchen and suggested a harlequin pattern, which the client absolutely loved. Our skills and the client's input worked in perfect harmony to restore this house to its former splendour.

“Working with Liz and Silvie - the dream team of Kis & Varone - was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. They handled the custom millwork, intricate floor design, and all the trim in our historic home during a post-flood restoration. They delivered nothing short of perfection. Every detail was executed with incredible precision, right down to the last millimeter. What truly set them apart was not just the quality of their craftsmanship, but the experience of working with them. The all-woman trades team brought a unique energy—fun, approachable, and incredibly professional. Communication was always clear and collaborative, and they approached every challenge with creative, innovative solutions that respected the home’s character while elevating its beauty. We absolutely loved working with Liz and Silvie and can’t recommend them highly enough. Their work speaks for itself, but even more than that it was a delight working with them.  ”

HOME RENOVATION

Renovation - Kis & Varone

We took this once dated 2500 sq. ft. bungalow and converted it into 2 spacious 3-bedroom apartments. With the client’s input, we developed a floor plan that efficiently made use of available space without sacrificing light or flow. New bathrooms and kitchens were built for each unit, and extensive soundproofing was added for a quiet living experience. We installed engineered hardwood on the top level and polished the heated concrete flooring in the basement. Now this is a home for an aging parent, it’s an investment property.

“We couldn’t be happier with the results. Even as Covid became a reality, Kis & Varone delivered, all while maintaining a healthy and safe worksite.”
